Lifeline

When thinking about what Epcot needed, there is one thing that I could get off my mind. Why is the Wonders of Life pavilion still empty?

Sure, it doesn't take up prime real estate in Future World. But it still is plenty of real estate. A great pavilion could be put in, or at least replace the current tomb of a building. And in today's world where people are so conscious about their health, why wouldn't a life pavilion work. People need to learn about their bodies. Why not entertain them while you do it?

So what do you guys think? Is it time for a new health and life pavilion in Epcot?

  1. Because it offers excellent space as an event pavilion without the cost of setting up a new one, not to mention, it was languishing before being dismantled.

Paraphrasing something I'd been told by some one I know on a tour of EPCOT.

  2. I understand the business reasons, but on a theme park perspective, I think it could be better suited as an attraction. Leave something like the Millennium Celebration building for events.

  3. What, you mean the Odyssey building? I guess that could work, but I have to give it to them on the reasons I mentioned. EPCOT is turning into an event park, for special stuff, food and drink. Not to mention, its original beliefs have been twisted and removed, in order to cater to a new park goer, who most likely wont care about the masterpiece that used to be EPCOT CENTER. Wonders of life will most likely not become anything, because it's so much easier to leave it gutted and used as a center; not to mention the costs of creating a new ride and pavilion (not done since M:S; i consider LS a makeover really). I doubt it's anywhere on their radar.

  4. UGH YES! When I was a wee lass this was my favorite area. I think it is especially important also because of the health problems that have been growing in our society... no pun intended. But yeah, I find that if it is to be used just for events it is a little bit... lame.

  6. Some further research, as well as a full-on redesign and rehabilitation might as well help bring back WoL from the 4 year coma. But all I must know it'll take a lot of work. Wait. It'll take a lot of determination, commitment and (although nostalgia is acceptable in the right ways) a focus on the future will help ensure things will go right for the Wonders of Life pavilion.
Of which, my Imagineering website at http://wol4eva.blogspot.com for some more information and essays.

  7. Yes, rehab it and bring it back online as a fully functioning attraction.

  8. A long list of inane changes have caused my favorite theme park to become my least favorite. Instead of continually updating those wonderful pavilions, the suits ruined Journey into Imagination by turning the original ride into a mundane experience. They removed the wonderful playground upstairs. The Universe of Energy was updated in a totally inappropriate way. When the Wonders of Life pavilion closed I was saddened as well. That building had some solid educational entertainment in it. All they had to do was update and it would have been something to be proud of. The original intent of EPCOT's Future World has been lost. And because the suits are pinching pennys, the imaginears have their hands and budgets tied. Sorry, but I don't see that bright of a future fot Future World.
