The recent departure of Kodak has inspired me to come up with another new idea for the Journey into Imagination attraction. This isn't a new story idea, but rather a cutting edge ride vehicle for the well deserving attraction.
What if there was a ride vehicle that was able to transform as the story progressed along? What if there was real animation taking place on the vehicle itself? This would be a ride vehicle never seen before, but would be based on the current one.
The basic shape of the cars could remain the same. The only change would be in the chassis of the vehicle. It would be modified to allow greater rotation and movement. Changes would be evident, however, in the colors of the vehicle. In the beginning of the ride, the vehicle would appear to be simply a solid white. Nothing special about it, and lacking any imagination. Once the ride would begin, colors would start to splash the sides of the vehicle.
This would be made possible by projectors and other special effects placed inside the body of the vehicle. The body would a little bit larger to accommodate this changes, but maintain the same general shape. These new effects could include splashes of color, vibrant animations, and even Figment causing chaos on the ride vehicle.

Interesting idea... but if you're in the vehicle, how will you see the sides? I suppose they could add mirrors so you could see your work on the sides.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea, but I think it would be neat to take it out or off the vehicle and put it on the wall, maybe a video screen. Using Figment as your guide, allow riders create something on a screen as the ride progresses. Inside the vehicles would be controls to add colors, lights, sounds, shapes, etc. At the end the creation would appear in a little show of some sort with Figment and your own newly created "figment of your imagination".
Like the idea and would like to add. Say when you first walk into the Imaginiation Institute (where the Figment ride is) there are touch computer screens that allow you to add colors to the plain white ride vehicle for the Figment Ride. Kids will add designs and colors to the vehicle. When they are finished out pops a card with bar code on it.
ReplyDeleteOnce ready to ride the family eneters the ride and waits in line. After waiting and is ready to ride the family gives there card to the ride attendent. The attendent then swipes the car and the family boards the ride vehilce.
As the ride starts they plain white vehicle changes when Figment uses his imagination to bring the color of your car to life and ride the ride. This will all be possible with the mirrors, projectors, and other special effects
So commment on the idea please.
That could work a lot like the E.T. ride at Universal Studios. But instead of saying your name, it could change your ride vehicle.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool idea and could add a lot of interactivity to the pavilion.
The Imagination pavilion needs more to it a 3d special effect show (honey I shrunk the audience) and figment just isn't cutting it in my opinion. Disney shud think of some new ideas like we hav and go pudgier the box for a renovation on the pavilion. Or just make a new idea for the pavilion instead of imagination. I have an idea for it already lol. There are many possibilities and thanks Jstalien for the feedback, I really do like ur blog site.
