Kodak Out

Kodak is officially no longer the sponsor of the Imagination pavilion in Epcot's Future World. Almost the entire ImageWorks post show area of Journey into Imagination with Figment is walled off. The new park maps also no longer feature Kodak as a sponsor of the pavilion. It is believed that all Kodak signs around the area will be taken down shortly.

My first impression is that this is a good thing for Epcot. It's Kodak's fault that this ride became such a mess in the first place. Hopefully a new and generous sponsor will come in and revamp the pavilion. Any company would surely make a name for themselves in the Disney community if they were know as "the saviors of Figment". So hopefully this is the future that plays out for this beloved opinion.

Or....we could have another Wonders of Life on our hands. A sponsor-less attraction that is allowed to sit and deteriorate until it finally reaches extinction. Time will tell..

What do you think will happen to the Imagination pavilion with Kodak gone?

  1. Can they build a "Mount Fuji" in Japan now? (Kidding...I'm pretty certain that will never happen - but I recall that there was objection from Kodak that a competitor's name would be used in the park even though they were referencing the actual mountain, not the film company.)

Epcot needs the Imagination pavilion. But probably before WOL closed people thought the same thing of it. I don't think Disney can afford to let Future World lose another major pavilion...

  2. Thanks for the comment Scott! And you're right, Future World needs this pavilion. Two dormant pavilions in one land is just unacceptable. Future World needs new life, not more death..

  4. The imagination pavilion really is not needed in my opinion. I mean it's good but not good enough for Disney. When I think of epcot, I think of test track, sorrin, and the world showcase. The Idea of the imagination concept is good but I think epcot shud be thinking of thrills. They should start fresh with a new ideal Pavillion. Or just make a change in Figmint?

  5. The Imagination Pavilion itself represents the core mission of Epcot. Dreaming and doing is what Epcot is all about. Without imagination there is no dreaming, and therefore no doing...

  6. Yes but a different idea of imagination can work aswell. Instead of the imagination institue how about we make a hole mother idea. With modal gone it's gives a new opportunity for the concept of imagination. I think they shud make a Beatles tribute their and call it the Imagine Pavilion. Then in the front of the pavilion u cud put a replica of John penniless imagine sign in the grond. And u cud make a ride inspired by their songs. Comment if u like the idea or if u have an idea of ur own u wud like to use.
